Archaeological Museum of Rhodes:
A number of the most significant archaeological findings of the islands of Dodecanese are found in the Archaeological museum, which was constructed to be used as the Main Hospital of the city during the Knights’ era (15th century). The second hospital used by the Knights, now houses the library of the Archaeological Institute.

The visitor, who enters the Old City from the Harbour's entrance, realises that the museums’ building occupies his whole range of vision. After the main entrance, you find a big inner courtyard. Inside the building the collection is of great interest and consists of epitaph plaques from the post-classical, Hellenistic, Roman and Knights' periods as well as a number of interesting statues including two Kouros and two Aphrodites, the smaller statue is known as the Aphrodite of Rhodes.

Byzantine Art Museum:
The church of the Panayia tou Kastrou (Virgin of the Castle), one of the most majestic buildings in the medieval town of Rodos, standing at the beginning of Ippoton street hosts the Rodos Byzantine Museum. It was built in the late 11th century. Until 1309, when the island was captured by the order of the Knights of St. John of Jerusalem, it was the Byzantine cathedral of Rodos. After the capture of Rodos by the Knights of St. John, the Panayia tou Kastrou was converted into the Roman Catholic cathedral, an event mentioned in a papal bull of 1322. After the capture of the island by the Turks in 1522, the church was converted into a mosque. Since 1988, the church of the Panayia tou Kastrou has housed an exhibition of Byzantine and post-Byzantine paintings, including icons from the collection of the 4th Ephorate of Byzantine Antiquities and wall-paintings.

Palace of the Grand Master Exhibition Centre:
The palace which is also called the Kastello, is built at the highest point of the medieval city, to the north-west, and it dominated the city and its harbour. It was a strong structure, indissolubly linked with the fortifications, and played an active role in the defence of the city, forming the last refuge of the population in the event of the city falling to the enemy. Built at the end of the 7th century, to act as the citadel of the Early Byzantine "fortress", it continued to play this role throughout the Byzantine period and the period of the Knights of St. John (1309-1522). The building was modified before the Knights established themselves on the island, from the first quarter of the 14th century the Knights began to repair the Byzantine citadel and converted it into the residence of the Grand Master and administrative centre of their state.

Museum of Popular Art:
The Museum of Popular Art of Rhodes is situated at the Argyro kastrou Square, a few meters from the Municipal Art Gallery. Although it is a rather small building it hosts a beautiful collection consisting of ceramics, rugs and carpets, carved wooden partitions and needlework’s in addition to the traditional costumes, utensils, tools and furniture.

Rodian House: Organized by the Women of Rodos Cultural Association (WRCA), this museum was inaugurated in May 1997. Visitors will find a newly restored, truly traditional two-floor Rodian house: The living area, the bedroom, the kitchen. Traditional furniture, hand made traditional linen, glasses, vases, kitchen utensils, as well as paintings, local art pieces and traditional costumes, all there to remind us how Rodians were living during the last century.

Municipal Art Gallery:
The Municipal Gallery of Rhodes represents one of most significant collections of Modern Greek paintings. Featuring works by K. Maleas, G. Bouzianis, F. Kontoglou, Theofilos, S.Vasiliou, N. Hadzikyriakos - Gikas, Y. Spyropoulos and other prominent Greek artists. It is an invaluable experience for the scholar of Modern Greek paintings. The visitor has the opportunity to see some of the most significant examples of their work. Many of the paintings have been part of official exhibitions, both in Greece and abroad. Alongside the masters there are on display other important artistic expressions that compliments the intellectual character of each decade and each major historical period. With a few exceptions - mostly regarding recent generations of artists who are still developing their own style and technique - the Municipal Gallery of Rhodes is a highly representative museum of the Greek Art of this century. Today the Gallery hosts 690 exhibits but only 90 are shown to the public. The paintings exhibited are changed during regular intervals.
Public Libraries:

The Public Library is situated in the centre of the Old Town near the Sea Gate, on the ground floor of the "Kastellania" building that used to be a gathering point for merchants, the office of the market inspectorate and the merchants' court during the period of the Knights. The building was transformed to a library in 1947. Today it stocks approximately 31,000 volumes covering nearly all subjects, especially literature, history and education. It also has all the local newspapers since their issue and all national newspapers since 1950.

The Library of the Historical and Archaeological Institute of Rhodes:
At the museum of Popular Art, you find the Library of the Historical and Archaeological Institute of Rhodes. It is situated in what used to be the first hospital of the Knights. It is not open to the public but it is permitted to be used by those carrying out researches. The books cover topics concerning history, archaeology and art in ancient, medieval and recent times in addition to topics relevant to popular art.

Rodos Eco films Festival:
The International ECOFILMS festival takes place every year in the city of Rhodes, in the halls of the National Theatre of Rhodes, the summer cinema "Rhodon" and the Municipal Theatre. Visitors will have the chance to enjoy movies of fiction, documentaries and films of ecological interest from all over the world. The program of the festival includes films based on documentaries and ancient myths about ecology, original audio-visual works from all over the world, dedications and events.
"The cinema of the author respects the public and the assumption that viewers are thinkers and not just potential customers. In Rhodes every year we host these independent voices throughout the world, show their anxiety about the planet, looking at every step of what real life is all about. These films are often exiled from the official distribution and visibility, here, in the Aegean a hospitable welcome to the authors and the audience.
